Everyone has a story—but which are the stories that yearn to be shared, and find resonance in our collective ways of being?

Editorially Yours- Pre Thesis Project

The homogeneity of dominant narratives has often led to feelings of being lost, misunderstood and excluded. To cope with such frustrations of invisibility, finding personal narratives to tell becomes a powerful exploration. ‘Editorially, yours’ is a publication design project dedicated to conceptualizing designing and producing a visual anthology as a collective. It contains 3 sections and 20 chapters- each chapter written and illustrated by a person. It allows, for narratives to emerge around urgent themes of our deeply human lives, using the print as a medium to convey these important messages.

Personal Chapter- Remnants of Home

Life is lived in moments and there is a joy in living these moments. This joy is often hovered by the fear of forgetting. And so, we resort to the process of documenting memories. But how does one chose what to record and what not to? Everyone makes a conscious or subconscious decision on what to capture. Somethings like feelings, odor or touch cannot be captured in it’s essence.

To explore this context, I have based my project on the concept of memories associated with a childhood home. Through my editorial piece I want the readers to recollect memories of what they associate home with. Memories that are undocumented or are not captured. Through this journey I also try to find the answer of ‘what is home?’ And make a claim that memories of a home cannot be confined within paper or words or pictures. Home can be a person or a feeling. One can even rediscover home outside of home.

Each section of the anthology has a unique colour palette. My narrative fits into the first section. It has a Blue-Orange palette that compliments the 'nostalgia' in my narrative.
